PFB Vanish, a company that specializes in pre- and post-hair removal skin solutions, was founded in 1999 by President and Co-Founder Ottmar Stubler, along with Jacqueline Birmingham, who is the company’s Vice President. Ottmar is an experienced esthetician and was a salon owner in San Francisco from 1987-1996. He has always been interested in ingredients and how they work together. Through his years in the salon industry, he would often consult with manufacturing labs to find the most effect ingredient combinations to address acne, rosacea, and fine lines and wrinkles. Prior to joining the company in 2007, Jacqueline was a Human Resources Manager and Bank Auditor at Barclays. Jacqueline was responsible for recruiting, screening, interviewing, and placing her staff. She also handled employee relations, payroll and benefits, and training. She was responsible for managers, planning, and directing and coordinating administrative functions for the organization.
In the early years of PFB Vanish, the company distributed skin care equipment and private label cosmetics. It was through conversations with salon owners, who offered waxing services, that Ottmar realized a need for a topical solution to calm irritated skin. More than 70% of women who wax or shave breakout with skin irritations and ingrown hair. Many men also experience issues with razor burn/bumps and ingrown hair. Through trial and error, working with various acids and bases, Ottmar formulated a topical serum that was cosmetically elegant to aid in the relief of ingrown hairs and razor bumps resulting from shaving, waxing, electrolysis, sugaring, threading, and laser hair removal. PFB Vanish was the first in the market to come out with a roll-on delivery system. “Our original formulation has a 95% success rate for calming the skin and eliminating ingrown hair. We also added a skin lightener to the original formula called PFB+Chromabright. This is now our #1 selling product in the world.” – Ottmar Stubler.
In addition to the roll-on, PFB Vanish offers soothing creams, numbing sprays, and exfoliating scrubs. Mr. Stubler believes the success of PFB Vanish is a result of their finding a niche market and filling a need within that market. Mr. Stubler develops new products and says the company has plans for expanding their current product lines. “We are always looking for new ingredients to add to our current formulations or new formulations for skin and body conditions.” PFB Vanish products are currently sold on their website, pfbvanish.com, in salons, spas, and from dermatologists in the U.S., Canada, the EU, the Middle East, Australia, New Zealand, and Mexico. When asked why PFB Vanish joined ICMAD Mr. Stubler replied, “We wanted to align ourselves with an organization that offers so many member benefits and that hosts very educational events. We have utilized the tools from ICMAD to help take our products international.” Member Since 2016
